September 18-20, 2009 - Rally
By Sue Nicolella
The Dogwoods hosted the 2009 “Cruisin in the Country” State Rally this year. Thursday evening there was a pot luck dinner followed by a talent show.
On Friday, there were a total of 79 coaches that arrived for the fun filled Rally weekend. Diane Zimmerman of the Dogwoods arranged to have a Mammogram Bus available for free mammograms during the day. After the Opening Ceremony, the day was filled with fun activities. Doc Holliday from McGeorge Rolling Hills brought 3 coaches for everyone to view. There were also seminars over the weekend given by McGeorge's, workhorse, pampered chef and the extraction of the HWH slide rooms. Friday evening's theme was Oktoberfest with German food, music, bingo, a drive in movie, and casino games.
Saturday morning Country Kitchen catered a delicious southern breakfast. Afterwards, Dick & Micky Dodge opened the WIT Store. During the day there were all different actives going on between the flea market row, seminars, cake walk, arts and crafts, games and casino games to name a few. Later that afternoon we had the induction of Chapter Offices for 2010. At dinner everyone came in their cruise wear where another delicious meal was provided by Country Kitchen. Door prizes were drawn and people picked up their prizes won at the Silent Auction with the “Cruisin Cash” money. Big Daddy and the Riffhounds band provided us with entertainment for the evening.
Sunday morning breakfast was followed by a church service. The General Meeting was held and the new state officers were installed. Afterwards the Dogwoods cleaned up and said our farewells until our October Campout.
We want to recognize and thank all the Virginia Chapters for their help in making this another great and successful Rally. We also give special thanks to Marilyn Chambers for playing her violin every morning for our breakfast entertainment.
