DOGWOOD'S NEWS MISSIVE
Glen Maury Park
Buena Vista , VA
August 15-17, 2008

Seven coaches made the trip to Glen Maury for the State Campout, which was hosted by the Dogwood Winnies. The state members all got together Friday evening for a social and caught up on all the news from the other clubs. After dinner, the Schulers set up a DVD projector and showed the movie “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” and everyone enjoyed a good laugh.

Saturday morning came early for the Dogwoods, who had prepared breakfast burritos and fruit for the whole state club. After breakfast, the usual state meetings were held and plans were made for the upcoming rally. At the Dogwoods chapter meeting, guests Frank and Diane Zimmerman were voted in. Also, the new slate of officers were nominated and accepted. For 2009, the new President will be John McMillan, Vice-President will be Mary Anne Moyer, Secretary will be Sue Nicollela and Treasurer will be Mary Wright. They will be sworn in in September at the rally. The Dogwoods showed off their new banner at the State General Meeting.

After lunch, Joe Preissner held a seminar on the new Digital TV switchover in February. For those who missed it, he will have a repeat at the rally.

Dinner was “bring your mom's favorite recipe” and was served freestyle. There was a lot of delicious things to choose from. Each chapter set up their own table and shared with all. After dinner, the outdoor movie shown was “Click” with Adam Sandler. It was fun sitting around in our camp chairs out in the field watching movies.

Sunday morning everyone gathered for breakfast and leisurely packed up to head home. The next campout will be the State Rally at Buena Vista in September.
