COZY ACRES CAMPGROUND
POWHATAN, VA
JULY 27-29, 2007
This July campout was "Grandparents Weekend". There were eight coaches, one cabin camping family and 11 kids total for the weekend.
On Friday, everyone either stayed in the AC or went swimming to stay cool. It was an exceptionally hot day. The kids enjoyed getting to know each other and six of them were there that had met two years ago. They all enjoyed painting vehicles for the table decorations for the Rally, and many played battery-less games. That evening, the Smores were a big hit. Keeping the chocolate from melting too soon was a challenge.
Saturday morning Joe Preissner cooked up pancakes with all the toppings and fruit. After breakfast, the meeting was held under the club's new canopies that Gary Harmon had purchased. Everyone was impressed with the ease of set up and great deal we got on those. There was a lot to discuss at the meeting. After the meeting, everyone went their own way to either swim, paint vehicles or sit in the AC. Watermelon and cantelope were served at three for everyone. Dinner consisted of hot dogs, chicken and pork barbeque and all the trimmings. After dinner, the kids made smores again and had ice cream. Finally, the evening was capped off with a showing of "Chicken Little" the movie, and popcorn in the barn.
Sunday morning the group met for bagels and donuts to say their goodbyes.
The next campout will be August 24-26, 2007 at the Holiday Travel Park in Virginia Beach. Please come help finish our table decoration duties.
