Nine coaches camped at Rockahock Campground in
Lanexa, Virginia during July 21 - 23, 2006 hosted
by Dan and Gail Young and Harold and Mary Anne
Moyer. Guests were former members Bob and Val
Terry from Florida and also Olga, Linda Bakos
mother, Ian and Isaac, the Mills grandsons. Frank
and Shirley Dance drove in Saturday morning for
the business meeting. The Brocks, Barbara Broach,
and the Villafranca's all former members drove
in Saturday afternoon and joined us for dinner
at the Fox Hunter Grill.
Around 4:00 p.m. Friday everyone met at the
gazebo for a social gathering. That evening the
hosts provided a hot dog dinner with Dan's great
homemade hot dog chili, plus rolls, linguine salad,
and chips. Friday night the campground showed
a Walt Disney movie called "8 Below" at the amphitheater.
We all gathered our lawn chairs plus bug spray
and went to the movies. It was just like going
to a drive-in movie with lawn chairs instead of
cars (although there were some in golf carts)
with Rockahock's concession stand serving popcorn
and beverages. On Saturday morning the hosts served
sausage and pancakes, orange juice and coffee
with the business meeting following breakfast.
Val Terry our Florida guest won the 50/50 drawing
totaling $13.00. During the afternoon washer toss
was played until and during social time. The Pressiner's
brought their four person unique folding Porta-Bote
and took several out for an enjoyable ride on
the river. Saturday night the group went to Fox
Hunter Grill a restaurant in the campground over
looking the river. During dinner the restaurant's
accordion player serenaded us and we also sang
Happy Birthday to Heather Villafranca. Being as
our dinner reservation had to be changed to 8:00
p.m. everyone was too full and sleepy to play
Pass the Trash, maybe next campout!
Sunday morning the hosts served a continental
breakfast, and then everyone said their goodbyes
until next month.
