Four coaches arrived early on Thursday to set up the tent pavilion and start the weekend. The weather was fabulous for the campout, warm during the day and chilly at night. Thursday night everyone enjoyed sitting around the campfire after dinner.
The rest of the group arrived Friday. For dinner, the group gathered for Mexican night with a delicious taco bar and cold sangria. After dinner, a large game of Pass the Trash was held.
Saturday morning everyone gathered for sausage, eggs, bagels and muffins. After breakfast, the meeting was held. After the meeting, everyone grabbed a boat kit and spent the morning painting and decorating boats for the rally table decorations. It was a lot of fun and everyone got really creative with their boats. We'll have quite the menagerie for the rally.
It was a picture perfect day for hiking and sunbathing. Taco salad was set up for those who wanted lunch. For dinner, the guys set up three grills and cooked up a huge supply of hot dogs and hamburgers for everyone. It was a good old fashioned picnic with all the trimmings. After dark, everyone enjoyed a cool evening under the stars watching the movie "Second Hand Lions."
Sunday morning the group met for breakfast and goodbyes. Everyone pitched in and helped take down the big tent and clean up our area. Pocahontas was a great place to camp with huge sites and lots of room. Thanks to everyone who pitched in and helped make the weekend a great time.
The next campout will be Grandparents Weekend at Cozy Acres in Powhatan. See the website for complete details.
