March 29-April 1

Six coaches arrived on Friday evening for the weekend campout. The weather was great for March, chilly at night and nice during the day. The social began around 5 pm and Mary Wright cooked up Knockwurst for everyone. After dark, the group sat around the campfire and watched movies on the big screen outside. It was just like a drive in.

Saturday morning, everyone pitched in and helped put together a great breakfast of burritos. The meeting was held after breakfast and two more members came in for the day. Guests Gary and Shirley Gray (and dog Charlie) were voted in as new members since this was their second meeting.

Planning for the state meeting in May was the day's main objective. During the brainstorming sessions, the Mills provided sandwiches and everyone pitched ideas to make the Drive in for Diabetes May State fundraiser meeting a success.

There were two new puppies to the club this weekend. They were "Patch" Moyer and "Trip" Boyette. Each are only 4 months old. All the males and Spot had thier paws full. They kept the group entertained and on their feet. Videos and photos of the "Dogwood Doggies" will be posted on the website.

Member Witt Freeman came in for the day and everyone was so happy to see him. He has been missed, as well as many of the members who are still in Florida.

Later in the day, the group gathered for dinner and movies in the gameroom. The Mills and Wrights made big pots of chili, and everyone brought a dish to pass. Later that night, a few gathered around the campfire to enjoy the crisp spring evening.

Sunday morning, everyone met for bagels and eggs and said their goodbyes until the April meeting. The April meeting will be held at American Heritage in Williamsburg.
