Fifteen coaches camped at Paradise Lake Campground in Appomattox, Virginia
during July 8-10, 2005 hosted by Duncan and Cornelia Mills. It was Grandchildren
Weekend, so there were quite a few little guests running around. The
total amount of campers and guests came to 56!
New members Ted and Annette Boyette were voted in. Around 6:00 p.m.
Friday everyone met for pizza, salad and jello. After dinner, it was
story hour in the Mills tent where Cornelia read stories as it got dark.
The adults socialized and enjoyed the nice weather.
Saturday morning a huge pancake breakfast was served. Volunteers helped
flip pancakes and cook sausage for the extra large crowd. After breakfast
all of the grandchildren were introduced and then the meeting was held.
Many went swimming in the lake and sunbathed on the sand.
At 1:00 there was an Ice Cream Social in the pavilion. That was followed
by arts and crafts which kept the adults just as busy as the kids. There
were sculptures being made with knick knacks and glue guns, and foam
suncatcher fish and suns were made out of old cd's. It was fun seeing
everyone get so creative.
After the crafts, there was a cake decorating held for the kids. They
decorated two huge sheetcakes with all sorts of fun items and they were
very colorful. Dinner was held around 6 and volunteers pitched in and
cooked tons of burgers and hot dogs.
The decorated cakes were served for dessert. Following the dinner,
the kids held story time, while the adults played a long game of Pass
the Trash. Sunday morning, everyone met at the Mills coach for danish
and coffee and said their goodbyes.
Hats off the the Mills for pulling off a fun filled weekend for everyone.
Thanks also to all of the volunteers who pitched in to help them out.
