THOUSAND TRAILS CAMPGROUND, RUSTBURG, VA.
AUGUST 19-21, 2005
Nine coaches attended the State meeting at Thousand
Trails in Rustburg August 19-21.
The state social was held at the meeting
room at 4 pm and everyone enjoyed seeing each other
again and catching up. After the social, our group
gathered at the Woolards coach and cooked up some
hot dogs, burgers and steak and enjoyed some of Mike's
liquid refreshments.
Saturday morning a pancake breakfast was
served by the Blue Ridge Winnies. The general meeting
was held at 11 and the nominations for state officers
took place. They are: President - Virginia McDaniel,
Vice-President - Keith Smith, Secretary - Brenda Ayres
and Treasurer - Walter Johnson. It was also announced
that next year's rally will be held at Bethpage, and
the theme will be How the West was Fun. The design
for the pin or patch will be voted on at the September
meeting. It was also announced that a new Technical
Assistance Forum will be formed. Click

Following the state meeting, the Dogwoods
held their meeting at the Moyer's coach. The nominations
for next years officers took place. They are: President
- Boyd Johnson, Vice President - Harold Moyer, Secretary
- Leigh Anne Schuler and Treasurer - Cornelia Mills.
It was announced that the Dogwoods were awarded the
Chapter of Excellence and pins were given out. The
new proposals for changing the state bylaws were discussed
and passed. Click

After the meeting, the Moyers served a
delicious hot dog lunch. Since Mike and Leigh Anne
Schuler had both their birthdays at this campout,
the Moyers presented them with a beautiful birthday
cake that was enjoyed by all.
Around 4 pm, the group gathered at the
Moyer's coach to look through the old photo albums
and socialize. It started to cloud up, then the sky
opened up and dumped a huge rainstorm on the group.
Everyone huddled under the awning while we found out
why the camground is called "Thousand Trails". There
were rivers everywhere. Mike Schuler didn't have time
to cover his dune buggy, so he was seen driving through
the campground with an umbrella over his head. It
finally cleared up in time to head for the catered
dinner at the meeting room.
A delicious southern dinner was served
by The Country Kitchen.
Sunday morning, everyone met at the meeting
room for danish and coffee and said their goodbyes.
The next campout will be the Rally at
Thousand Trails September 16-18. Each group has been
asked to bring a cake for the cakewalk. Please contact
Boyd if you plan to bring a cake.
