Unfinished Business:
Dan & Gail Young and Mike & Leigh Anne Schuler met with the owners of Cozy Acres, Larry and Gene Daniel. Mike passed out the tentative numbers for the cost per coach for the rally campout. It is getting more expensive to produce a rally and there were suggestions of how to cut costs. Also, Cozy Acres is not a large campground, so there will be some restrictions on how many will be able to attend. Pat Veler suggested we put a limit on the number of reserved spaces as they did at the NC rally. The campground owners suggested that we can double up on many of the spaces since they are rather large and two smaller units can fit on one space. Also discussed was what to do about entertainment, since that is a significant expense. The campground had suggested a DJ for around $200 that they know. Gene Veler suggested a comedian for Saturday night. Another suggestion was made for doing Bingo instead of live entertainment, since many don't like to hang around for that anyway. Harold Moyer will check on the band “Back in the Day” to see what they charge as well. Mike said that in order to lock in the campground for Sept 2009, we needed to make a $100 deposit. A motion was made by Duncan Mills to go ahead and pay the $100 to hold the campground and lock in the rate. The motion was seconded by Mary Wright. All voted in favor. There will be much more to come on the rally plans. The idea will be presented to the state in August.
New Business:
Cornelia Mills brought an envelope to mail in rally fees for the upcoming rally so we could park together.
Dogwoods are in charge of games at the upcoming rally. We should get all of the equipment at the August meeting for that.
State Advisory board suggestions : None
Announcements: none
Thank hosts The Wrights and the Moyers. Cost was $8 per person.
Motorhome Experiences:
Joe Preissner lost a stainless steel wheel liner and suggested to make sure all nuts are tight. He suggested adding a technical page to the website where we can start listing these types of suggestions. (Note: page has been added, need copy). Gene Veler suggested getting service tips from the WIT magazine.
The Mills had a squeak in the front of their motorhome and took it to Patrick Chevrolet. They test drove it and it stopped dead on 295 while test driving. The Mills called Coach Net to tow it, but because the Mills were not driving it, they would not cover it. So they had to pay for the towing. There were problems with the oil pump and fuel pump. There were problems getting to the fuel gauge because the tank was full of gas. They spent $1,500 to get the problems fixed… and the thing still squeaked until they changed a belt.
Ted Boyette had a problem with his wiring. The mice got in and ate the wires out. Also, he had to get a coil replaced and Workhorse did pay for that. They also have a hydraulic problem with their levelers. During their last trip, they had to outrun a tornado and something big hit the coach. Don't know what. Also, on the Kentucky line, honeybees swarmed the coach and got honey all over the coach. Getting it off was real tough. It was “one sweet coach!”
Next meeting date:
August 15-17 at Buena Vista
There being no further business Harold Moyer made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by
Gail Young, motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Leigh Anne Schuler
